Boonmee Lab has worked with Yala Municipality to set the foundation for data-driven smart city in Thailand, Yala as the first showcase. Yala is located in the southern Thailand with main industry far from technology or digital world. However, the mayor of Yala saw the importance of digitized, transparent government, he contacted Boonmee Lab for help.

The goal of this project focuses on creating the data-driven digital system both for the citizen and government offices.

To create a channel for easily and immediately contacting and servicing citizens in Yala such as complaining or suggesting any issues, or preparing any critical situations in the future.
To collect data from citizen and develop them as any policies
To develop central management system with data-driven approach.

Blue Print

In order to achieve the goal, all data needed to be digitized and have API ready. We suggested criteria for smart city and use it as an index to propose how Yala can be a smart city based on the data Yala city owns. We worked with multiple vendors to understand available data and create the overall IT landscape of the city. At the same time, we prepared the structure of data sets in the near future.

Chatbot

How would Yala citizens gets the latest news of the city and report of issues? We implemented Oho Chat to connect citizens and government entities. Anyone can easily talk to government officer through LINE Official Account, and the officers can easily manage incoming chats without a hassle.

Dashboards

Dashboard is a great way for a transparent government because it connects to the live data. We crated two functional and insightful dashboards for managements and citizens. Managements from Yala government can see what is happening and are able to improve the service for the citizens.

Yala citizens access to the dashboard that displays public complaint information in map format with live status. Summary report of data collection requirements and technical details is to create a detailed roadmap of an open data display system for the public.

It is meaningful as a stepping stone for the digital transformation of Thai governments.
